RAPPORT RAGA 20.06

First things first...all pics of Rapport...courtesy Manan...the official photographer of my class...i hav bugged him all thru these 7 days...but most of the pics hav been clicked by me cos i can see Manan in most of the pics...hehe...kidding...thanks a ton....
I know I know its been some days now that Rapport has finished and I hav not blogged about the last two days of it…… the 5th and 6th day…the finale of Rapport 2006…the most awaited event coming to a stand still…..
The last two days consisted of the jackpot events…..
Day 5 was preety much good…not too rocking nor too thanda….
Ooh I bet ppl who are not Podarites will surely regret of not coming to watch the western dance finals on the 5th day. Songs of Shakira, pyaar ka signal, aaj ki raat, rocked the audi….. most of the events took place in the audi itself…preety much only the main group events were left…..we gals literally rocked the floor that day…as we were somewhere far from the stage we, specifically I couldn’t see much of what was going on on the stage and therefore I and my other gal friends shook our legs on the floor where we were….. And mind you only we girls… aah those guys were too much… there were soo damn aakdu....no not really.....they were just feeling shy and akward I suppose…hehe….Pooja remember the dialogue that I said at that point of time “5 beautiful girls, 3 handsome guys but all 3 boring and unhappening”….hahaha…I cant control my laugher….but …but...but…they proved me wrong …absolutely wrong but the next day. Better late than never, rite?….….i had threatened them that if they don’t dance on the final day they will hav it from me…..and they kept their promise…and Achintya, he is too innovative I must say…hehe..he found out such a novel ideal of dancing by just gracefully walking on the red taped line on the floor…remember guys?? And Rohit??? He took me by surprise…..had never ever thought had he wud even make an attempt to shake his body but he rocked the floor along with Jayshree….haha…besides myself, Pooja, Alisha, Jayashree, Rohit, Achintya, Hrudyesh (m I forgettin ny1??) really enjoyed ourselves……
Ooh ya Abha was literally on her toes..as in she was running about to get down with her photography event……
After having sweat a lot in the packed audi we came out…after failing to convince everyone Rohit finally agreed to accompany Abha with a franky along with Jayashree and Pooja. And a slush with me and Jayashree. Ooh and did I tell u that I won he Best Worst Singer? So from then on I had vowed to entertain my friends and so guess wat I did???…I made some poor guy copy the Podar Song lyrics written on the board and I started my tape recorder… hehe…and that poor soul Rohit…so much I tried to make him undersand wat the actually tune of the song was he couldn’t get the sur or taal out of my singing…..so basically the worst and best singers were trying to tune their vocals together…..and u can only imagine the outcome…..
After the whole event was wrapped up the ‘gang’ went to Garnish, a restaurant in Matunga. Its far from our college and we walked it down only cos some enthusiastic idiots didn’t want to take a cab……
After having a nice dinner we walked it to our college all over again…may be it was the nostalgia that drew us thr or as Abha puts in her blog “something tht only she (abha) and alisha know abt as to why they were heading towards coll again.”
10:30 we left the college premises after seeing some of our seniors shed loads of tears in the audi……..
A wonderful, memorable event of our lifes which came to the end……..but this was the best way our year 2006 could come to an end..rite guys???
What awaits for us in the future at the same time of the year is mystery…….. Rapport ki jay ho!!! Rapport zindabad!!!

RAPPORT RAGA 20.06

Day 4

Happening day. we are in the second position just behind C n ahead of the Shah Parivaar. There are hopes that we can defeat C in the next two days. There were many group events taking place all over the college today. After winning the open cricket and losing the tug of war we headed towards college from the ground. My class ppl dispersed for Bridal make up event.
By that time i saw the social skit where in we bagged the second position. T shirt designing also won the first position. and we had placed a joker on it!!!!!
best part was we won the Bridal event and we had a joker on it which was a jackpot event. so basically out of the 5 jokers we had 3 good ones and all thos three were first position!!!!
because of a lot of events clashing we couldnt take part in chunav tanav.
Bakk baliye event also went off smoothly. We entered the finals of Hindi rec dance.
so now we hav finals of many events to go and a few jackpot events which we have to win to secure our first position.
the day was gr8t. we had yummiiii food after college. pani puri and then caramel custard from gulshan. too good. only two more days for rapport 20.06 to end........
FY BCom is the best time to enjoy it, rite folks???

RAPPORT RAGA 20.06

Day 3

Rapport rocks for sure. As of today we the ‘OMKARA’ are leading. Today either there were many events that made me too tired by the end of the day or god knows what that was. Any ways all the 6 days of Rapport are equally rocking and tiring. More over so cos I’m the DR of my class.

The day started very good and in a way ended nicely. We won the dodge ball event (even I was one of the 6 participants). I also exercised my vocal cords today. I along with a guy won the Laryngitis event, event where in the worst singer is adjudged as the best. So finally I know in which category I fall into. Hahahah……

Achintya won second in quiz. Alisha came second in Kahani main twist. We had musical skit and western dace eliminations today whose results aren’t out as of yet. Abha had T shirt designing and collage work. Many events took place. Chunav Tanav campaigningwas going on as well but we didn’t take much efforts in it. Achintya was in the Handminton team which qualified till the semis and lost against the Shah Parivar. (sorry Rohit…..the most loyal member of the parivar).

The last event of the day was Treasure Hunt. I was to participate in it but due to ill health I didn’t. I’m unaware of the results as I left in the middle of the hunt. Ho[e its something positive. I’ll let you know in tomorrows post.

Till then good nite.

Note: no one of you’ll are posting comments. Better do or else…… I’m already out of my mind or no good reasons and you all know that.

Take care.

RAPPORT RAGA 20.06

Day 2

It was a long tiring day. May be cos I reached college early at 8 am that it made me feel that it was a long day. Well I wasn’t too good a day for our class either. Bucket ball one of the first event of the day. Achintya, Shushant, Akanksha and Swati played well and lost only after drawing the match. I had my dodge ball event which was the only event of the day that made it to the finals. Box cricket was also lost badly by us. (Politics prevails everywhere.)

Those were the sad points of the day for my class. But if I look into my other team that’s of us close friends there were many laurels bagged by them all.

Alisha gave a mind blowing performance in the western solo singing category and there was no one who could beat her. Pooja and Siddharth secured the first position in GD. Rohit played his synthesizer very well but couldn’t beat others this time. But no hassles. For the first time the hidden talents are coming out and all of us are enjoying every bit of it.

Did I miss out on anything? Aare ya.. Abha won the first prize in cartooning.

Oooh theres no dearth of talent amongst all of us here. Ooh one more winning event. Rohit with his partner won Spelling bee and word game and Siddharth came second in crossword. Many winners all through the day…….

I’m too tired to go in further depth. So sorry please bare with me. And you’ll have to bare with me for 4 more days with four more exciting posts coming up.

n yes btw forgot to mention the winners of yesterdays events. In hindi Duet Rohit and his partner came first and Pooja and her partner came second. and i won the first position in the Classical Dance ;)

I agree this is a very dry and boring post cos I’m toooo tired. And I hope all you guys remember how I was today… ;)

Request: people write in your memories plssssssssssssss………

Love you all loads……..

RAPPORT RAGA 20.06

Day 1

Rapport, an intra collegiate event of R.A.Podar college of commerce and Economics. The most awaited and happening week in the life of a Podarite. Fun, spirit, competition, team work, screaming skills are all that you need to enjoy it to the fullest. Ooh its just amazing. I can’t put my emotions to words and having a beautiful creative writer amidst us I stand no where in writing. Well you know whom I’m talking about. Yup! That’s Abha. A spellbound writer whose few write ups go bouncer when she makes me read them. And no doubt she secured a few points for her class in the creative writing event by winning it. Hats off to you buddy and I’m sure in the next 5 days to come you’ll get many more hats ;)

Talking about sportsmanship I can’t think of anyone but Achintya. A rocking sports star. He’s the pillar of my class. He’s a part of most of the sports event and he has already done a wonderful job one the first day by getting into the finals of Rink Football and Frisbee. And he also hurt his leg ;( some tubelight glass pierced him I suppose. Take care Achi. (Saying that out of true concern and not for getting points for our class…heheheh….) Bravo to you pal!

Chatter box did a wonderful job by being herself and blabbering her best and winning the debate competition. By the way I am talking about Pooja. Well she exercised her vocal cords in the evening by entering into the Hindi Duet category. Aah that song was so mesmerizing and her melodious tone. “Tumse milke, aaisa laga tumse milke, ki aarma hue pure dil ke….” It was on the tip of my tongue all through the evening. Lovely. Kudos to you!

He took us all by surprise. I had never heard him sing before ever in the past 2 and half years but today he made us stick to our seats by his melodious vocals. That’s Rohit. “Aaja sanam madhur chandani main hum….” A beautifully sung piece. But what was more exciting was to see him sing. It was hilarious. His partner was so engrossed in her singing that she was almost dancing to her own tune and was trying to make Rohit to dance as well. And at that particular moment all eyes were set on Jayashree. She was getting red. No she wasn’t blushing cos’ Roht was singing so beautifully but she was getting red with anger upon his partner. Hahahaha I still can’t control my laughter. Pooja and Rohit with their respective partners and other contenders competed against each other. But the results aren’t out still.

I too had a wonderful day. I was a participant of the Classical Dance category. The best part of it was many of my friends actually thought that I gave a nice performance. The results aren’t out yet but I’m hoping for the best so won’t comment on it much.

The day ended with six of us having dinner(?) at Shree Sunders. That would be myself, Jayashree, Rohit, Siddharth, Pooja and Achintya. We sure missed all you other people (didn’t we? Or should I ask "did we?”). ;)

Request: All you guys who are a part of this happening Rapport please drop in your thoughts and pour in your emotions in the comments section so that 10 years down the line when we all stub upon this post these beautiful lines will bring back some of the most memorable days of our life of being together.

Small is Out.

Well just tonight I came across this article in The Economic Times regarding the FMCG products. The miniature packing which changed the scenario in the 1990’s has taken a different turn in the present situation. Shampoo sachets, one cup tea dip packets, four biscuit packet (of Parle G), and even the Parachute one rupee tube are all loosing their hold in the market. The small time retailers avoid stocking them for the reasons of pilferage and inconvenience in display. On the other hand the super markets claim that the consumer entering into a Big Bazaar or D Mart comes with the intension to purchase in large quantity. Therefore sachets do not match the consumers purchasing pattern in case of big players.

One of the observations made by the retailers is that the consumers do not buy single packets but in multiple on fives which makes it a tedious job for the retailer to stock, count and account for.

One other distinct reason for the low unit packs to be out of favor in organized retail is the narrow price differential between the small and large packs. In 90’s sachets defied conventional wisdom and were, in fact, cheaper compared to larger packs.

Chutney powder, pickle packets made things easier in the south Indian house holds. Shampoo sachets were found convenient to use because each sachet provided with the exact amount of quantity to be used and more over is helped in reducing over spilling of the content when used by kids.

But slowly and gradually these packets are vanishing from the market. But tell me one instance when u actually think of buying these packs??? Oh! The picnic bag or a hiker’s kit stocks all things that are small, smaller and smallest. So definitely, though really very small but a market still exists.

(And by going to hikes all through the year I and you will surely keep the market up and alive and never let it die).

The Verdict...

9th October………..to……..12th November

12th November…….to…….2ed December 2006!

I’m glad it’s the 2nd of December today. Finally my Common Proficiency Test results are out. Well you would have sensed it till now that I cleared the exam. And I did clear but not with flaunting marks at all. But still I’m content. My one month preparations during the diwali vacations paid off. I still remember telling people that I took up this examination just so that I’m occupied during my vacations. And that true. One of the reasons was that.

9th October, the last day of getting registered for CPT for the November attempt. I got myself registered at ICAI at Cuffe Parade. Before that on the 6th of October I along with all my other CA aspirants had gone to ICAI to get them registered. All were quite surprised to see me there because till then I wasn’t quite confident as to give this thing a shot or not. But anyways with the constant pestering of my brother I finally gave it a shot. On the 9th I got a set of 4 fat books. Really fat and damn heavy. Boy my back was aching for the next two days. Fundamentals of Accounting, Mercantile Law, Quantitative Aptitude, and Economics were the 4 subjects I had to gain knowledge on in just one month. I was in a situation like that of Saif Ali Khan in Kal Ho Na Ho where SRK has a plan of “che (6) din, ladki in.” remember?? and my plan was, “1 month and 4 subjects!!” ;)

I was pretty much in a bad shape for the whole month studying things by myself. I had my days of tears and laughter. As for those who know me well know that I don’t get easily tensed up. I like to take up things as they come and leave a lot of other things for option as well..hehe… ‘Tension’ is a banned word in my house. Ooh but I’m a human. I did get those goose bumps when the exam approached nearer.

Ooh! That 1 whole month …..can’t put them to words….it was totally chaotic….constantly knowing how much my other friends have finished studying where as I stood nowhere in front of then…how their classes were still going on….how I hardly understood anything of Quantitative Aptitude….in what a bad condition I was in….but still getting constant support from my friends that I could do it….I could clear it….it was all a khichadi….

I was the least prepared of all. So no doubt that I didn’t score too well. But I my so happy for all my other friends who did a fantastic job. Aah! I’m glad be be in a company of merit rankers!!!!! J

Scholars!!! Every one of them….Pooja came in merit, Alisha got a merit, Siddharth got it as well, Gauraw made it to the merit list, Rohit just missed it by 2 marks, Karthik scored pretty well, the list is endless…..all did brilliantly… I’m proud of them all. Someone told me its ok if you don’t come in merit once. I said that’s true. There’s a thrill in itself to be standing in the position I’m in right know. And my friends know that and appreciate it. What more do I ask for? .....Bravo to you guys!!!!

Ooh BUT those 30 days!!!!

Books, computer, phone, net, 'coffee' all were my supporters!!

The real test comes now…what’s ahead is something really tough…practical…

BEST OF LUCK TO ALL……

Pre Hike!!!

It was Saturday morning. The very night we were to board a bus for “TUNG”, our destination. Myself, Abha and Swati got out haversacks to college the very morning it self. We stay at Thane and to reach Matunga it takes 1:30 hours one way. So we thought why waste our time in traveling from college to home 4 times a day?? And if you are wondering why we had to go to college in the morning at the first place it was for Mr.Gujrathi’s EVS lecture. So atleast now all the Podarites reading this would have got a justified reason, right?

We had fun in college till about 1 P.M. Karthik started asking us all whether we had packed this thing and that. And invariably we didn’t have many a things mentioned by him. Never mind we didn’t require all those things. And then I was on my phone talking to the Hutch care number enquiring whether I had my roaming service activated or not. Just ‘cos I spoke for like 5 long minutes on line Karthik started calling me “hotline”… KM has a weird sense of humor.

Then at 1 we left to Swati’s uncle’s house at Chembur. We couldn’t stay whole day in college. Especially just the three of us with any other company. We took a bus from behind our college. But guess what?! After reaching somewhere in Sion we spotted a Crossword at a traffic signal. All three of us hopped down the bus and barged into the bookstore. Mean while my cellphone continuously warned be by making weird sounds that I had very low battery. After having browsed through some of the pages we left for her uncle’s home by rickshaw.

Ooh I forgot to mention…before leaving college we lunched at Mani’s and had a watermelon juice at Sai Point!!!!

Once home we freshened up. I got my cell charged. We chatted a bit. Saw some television. The other two girls slept off but the MTV roadies kept me awake. Then we went down to a general store and got some bread and butter for breakfast the next morning along with some biscuits and chocolates. We ordered pav bhajji and biryani for dinner!!!

At around 9 PM we left her home. We had such a bumpy ride to college in the bus…boy…the bus was at its full speed that to on the flyover and we were sitting on the last seat……it was FUN!

I forgot to mention one thing….Abha and Swati had not got their caps. And because we had to trek the whole of the mountain in the scorching sun they really needed the caps. And so I made poor Rohit who stays in Matunga to buy them caps from a sports shop at Matunga because by the time we would have reached their the shop would have got closed for the day.

So once we reached college at 9:30 (may be a little late) others had already reached. Pooja was already furious that I was late. Gloria was their. Rohit and Achintya came to give these people their caps. Then after a while we went to G 4. You know what! Even at 10 in the night the watchman was yelling at us not to stand in the corridor…..he’s one crazy man I must say!!!

At 11 the bus arrived and we ran to catch our favorite seats…

From their the journey began!!!!

(About the hike in one more post!!! Till them keep visiting my blog!!!)
